Terms of Service
The rules for using Kite. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them.
What Kite is
Kite helps students plan a path to professional school, and connects them with tutors, hosts and opportunities. Kite offers planning guidance only. We don’t guarantee admission, and we aren’t a university or an official advisor. Always check requirements with the school. Tutors, hosts and employers are independent. They aren’t Kite’s employees, and Kite doesn’t control how they teach or run their workplaces.
Your account
- You must be 18 or older.
- Give us your real name, email address and phone number, and keep them up to date.
- Confirm your email address when asked.
- Keep your password private. You’re responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else has used it.
- One person, one account. An account can only be logged in once at a time.
Bookings
A booking is an arrangement between a student and a tutor. Tutors set their own prices and hours. Some tutors confirm straight away, and others review each request first. The Student and Parent Terms and the Tutor Agreement explain the details.
Payments
Kite’s checkout is a sample for now, and no real money moves. Any amount shown as paid, refunded or earned is a record of what would happen. We’ll tell you before real payments start. Once they do, a payment company will process them, and Kite will keep the commission described in the Tutor Agreement. Do not pay anyone outside Kite for a lesson or a listing you found here.
Cancellations and refunds
A student or tutor can cancel a lesson any time before it starts, and the student gets a full refund. If a lesson goes wrong, either person can report it, and Kite decides what happens to the payment. The other documents have the details.
Kite Plus
Kite Plus is an optional subscription, currently $7.99 a month or $79 a year. It renews until you cancel. If you cancel, you keep it until the end of the period you paid for. Your academic information stays yours if you stop.
Job listings and boosts
Employers and professionals must be approved by Kite before they can post. Listings must be real, legal and accurate, and each runs for 30 days unless renewed. A boost moves a job up the results for a set time and doesn’t guarantee applicants. Hosts, not Kite, decide who they accept, and are responsible for their own workplace rules, training and privacy duties.
How you must behave
- Be respectful and honest. No harassment, threats, hate or sexual content.
- Follow the Safety and Reporting Policy, including keeping lessons, messages and payments on Kite.
- Don’t pretend to be someone else, or claim qualifications you don’t have.
- Don’t post fake reviews, or pay for or pressure anyone into a review.
- Don’t ask someone to complete graded work for you, and don’t complete it for them.
- Never share patient records, or anyone else’s private information.
Using our systems properly
These rules protect everyone’s information and keep the site running:
- Don’t try to get into accounts, data or parts of the site you aren’t allowed to reach.
- Don’t try to get around security or rate limits, or test the site’s security without our written permission. If you find a security problem, email support@getkite.education.
- Don’t upload viruses or harmful files.
- Don’t copy the site or its data in bulk using bots or scrapers, or make accounts automatically.
- Don’t share your login, sell your account, or let someone else use it.
- Don’t overload the site or interfere with how it works for others.
What you post
You keep ownership of what you post. You let Kite store it, display it and use it to run the service, and tutors and hosts agree that their public profiles can be shown to anyone. Don’t post anything you don’t have the right to share. We can remove anything that breaks these terms.
AI features
AI suggestions can be wrong, so check them before you rely on them. AI never grades, posts or submits work on its own.
Suspending or removing accounts
We may suspend or remove an account, or a listing, profile or review, if it breaks these terms, puts someone at risk, or is needed to follow the law. We’ll usually tell you why, unless that would be unsafe. You can ask us to look at the decision again by emailing support@getkite.education. You can delete your account at any time from Settings.
Limits on our responsibility
To the extent the law allows, Kite is provided “as is”. We don’t promise that it will always be available or free of errors, that any information is complete, or that a tutor, host or employer will meet your expectations. To the extent the law allows, Kite isn’t liable for indirect losses, or for what other members do. Nothing here removes rights that the law says can’t be removed.
Changes
If we make an important change, we’ll ask you to agree again the next time you visit. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account.
