Safety and privacy
What we collect
Your name, email and time zone. If you’re a student and choose to enter it: your college, degree, major, courses, grades, GPA, test plans and scores, target schools and experience hours. We use it only to calculate your pathway and connect you with support. We don’t ask for home addresses or transcripts, and there’s no location tracking.
Who can see what
Tutor, host and organization profiles are public. Student accounts are never public, and your courses, GPA and target schools aren’t shown to tutors, hosts or other students. Tutors see your first name and last initial, your bookings, messages and the assignments they set. Hosts see your first name and last initial, plus what you send in a request, and only for their own listings. Administrators can access records to run the service, and their changes are logged.
Keeping communication on the platform
Please keep lessons, messages and schoolwork on Kite and don’t share personal contact details. If anything makes you uncomfortable, use the report option on a profile or in a conversation. Reports are private.
Age
Accounts are for people 18 and older while we review what would be needed to support younger students safely.
Shadowing and clinical settings
Host sites, not Kite, decide orientation, training, background checks, vaccination, identity checks, consent, supervision and patient privacy requirements. Never share patient records or sensitive files here. Hours you log are self-reported; we don’t certify clinical hours.
Your choices
Download your data or delete your account at any time from Settings and privacy.
Credentials
Tutors and hosts describe their own education and experience. A verified badge appears only after an administrator has really checked them. Your coursework shows as student-reported and is never officially verified by us.
AI features
AI suggestions are clearly labelled and always reviewed by a person before they’re used. AI never grades, posts or submits work, and it isn’t a replacement for a qualified tutor.
Community guidelines
Be respectful, be honest in profiles and reviews, keep work your own, and treat every student and tutor the way you’d want to be treated. Accounts that break these guidelines may be removed.
Emergencies
If anyone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
